Welcome! Another Six Sentence Sunday (SSS) is upon us and if this is your first time visiting a SSS, then you'll have to check the nearly 200 other writers/authors who post a Sunday Snippet from their work.
So for this weeks SSS, I'm going to pull something from my debut novel Taking Chances. In this scene Alex has walked up on Gavin and Clair in the diner "having a moment." Looks can be deceiving as we all know but Alex has just driving 8 hours to see his girlfriend.. and this is NOT what he was hoping to catch a glimpse of. They make eye contract through the diner window and Alex storms off.
His face was inches from hers when he said, “I should have known this would be a mistake, but what’s worse is to be replaced by the person I hate most.”“What are you talking about?” Clair asked, confused.Alex snickered, but he looked furious, “What do you think I’m talking about? I saw the way you two were talking, and the way he was touching you. Do I look fucking stupid to you?” He paused and stared at her, his disappointment clear as he waited for her to answer.
Well, as you can see Alex isn't very happy. Check back next Sunday to see what happens next! Also if you'd like to read many other SSS snippets, be sure to click the link to find other great SSS!
Until next Sunday... Have an awesome week!
Ooo...that Gavin sure was a creep! He was all about causing trouble! Great 6!
ReplyDeleteJealousy is an evil little thing! Wonderful tension, Loni. You do tension and dialog so well. I have a lot to learn from you. ;) Great Six!
ReplyDeleteI remember feeling such incredible angst in this moment, my gut crawling up into my throat as I read this passage in your wonderful novel. I wanted to scream "No, no, no, Alex! You don't understand." My emotions were pinging all over the place and I felt so horrible for both Alex and Clair. A well done six, Loni!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read more. I could feel the tension.
